Welcome Back!

Dear Students and Parents,

Welcome to a brand new year at Lamar County Middle School. Thank you for taking the time to peruse our website! We are committed to adding new features and updating this site regularly with information to help keep you as parents, students, and our community informed. We are dedicated to easing the transition between elementary to middle school and then from middle school to high school. We have high expectations as we prepare students to become college and career ready. Our hope for each student this year is that you enjoy a rewarding school year and work hard to reach your greatest potential. We take great pride in setting high academic standards for our students while providing you an atmosphere that will engage you in extracurricular activities to further your social involvement. A student’s success during the school year requires the entire family to be actively involved in the day-to-day operations of LCMS. We want you to know what is going on!

Parental involvement is more important than ever as students begin their middle school career. Please take advantage of our scheduled Title 1 parent nights throughout the school year as well as parent conference times. Please feel free to contact your child’s teacher, our school counselors, or administrative team with questions or concerns at any time. These individuals can be contacted by phone, email, or the student’s agenda. We will ensure that you as a parent have the opportunity to provide feedback throughout the year as we continue to grow as a school community. We are here to help you and provide flexible meeting times and locations to deliver updated Title 1 information. Please take advantage of our school website (www.lamar.k12.ga.us) and the Parent Portal. Our school website contains viable information along with our Title 1 Parental Involvement Policy, our School Wide Plan, and grade level Title 1 Compacts. The Parent Portal allows you to access your child’s grades and attendance on a daily basis. This tool will be beneficial to you as we progress through each nine weeks grading period and you being able to stay on top of things. Please call us if we can be of any assistance getting you logged in.

We encourage you to help make arrangements for your child to stay after school and participate in extra-curricular activities. We provide an array of opportunities! These are the activities that begin to engage students in clubs and team building opportunities that build lifelong memories. We urge you to read and discuss the Lamar County Code of Conduct that is located on our school system website with your child. Check your child’s agenda each day for daily communication from your child’s teachers. We ask that you make the agenda a part of your daily conversation within your home and we are dedicated to providing you information in a timely manner. By doing this, we will build a strong school-to-home communication tool. We encourage you to call us with questions so that you get the answers you need. Our front doors are always open and we are here to serve you!

I look forward to a successful year!
